Cross-training for percussionists
Each course trains a different way of organizing your hands. The cajon teaches you to alternate and share a groove between them. The udu inverts that — one hand shapes the pitch while the other keeps time. The caxixi works in fractions of a second, refining exactly when a sound arrives. Everyday objects remove the technique entirely and leave you with a shape and a question.
They are not five separate subjects. They are five ways into the same thing. Work on two of them and you will feel it. Go back to your first instrument after a month on another one, and something has changed... not because you practiced it, but because you practiced around it.

RENATO MARTINS
The Brazilian world-class percussionist, educator and former Cirque du Soleil artist Renato Martins is described as an innovator of Brazilian percussion and is considered one of the most internationally respected percussion artists in the world.
Renato Martins is a percussion educator, clinician and taught percussion at some of the most important music schools and universities in Brazil. Renato has been teaching percussion and performing workshops in Belgium, other countries in Europe and in the world. In 2016, Renato was guest artist and clinician at the University of Florida’s Brazilian Music Institute (BMI).
